D&L Distributing Presents Jack Ingram

Jack Ingram will be the Headliner for the Friday Night Show on July 23rd, 2010! You might recognize some of his music:

"Where ever you are."

"Barefoot and Crazy."

"That's a Man."

When Jack Ingram won the 2008 Academy of Country Music award for “Best New Male Vocalist,” thousands of people in the audience had to be smiling to themselves about that whole “new” thing. They knew the thirty-something, steel-eyed veteran accepting that trophy on that stage in Vegas had been rocking roadhouses, theaters and stadiums relentlessly since 1997, that he’d been celebrated by critics and fans of hard-core country music for more than a decade, and that as a Texas-born songwriter and performer, he’d been on the short list of next generation artists who could fill the boots of Lone Star legends like Willie and Waylon and the boys.

He has a new album out called "Big Dreams and High Hopes, " that is sure to be a bit hit at the concert and the radio charts this year!

Tickets can be reserved, by calling the fair office at 251-8900. If you want to see us get tickets online, so you can purchase and print at home, let us know by voting on our home page!

An Amazing Race in an Outdoor Place

SUSANVILLE- The Lassen County Fair has decided on a new fair theme “An Amazing Race in an Outdoor Place, “submitted by Joyce Hopkins. The theme was chosen after the fair board launched a contest asking the public for a theme that would accentuate the beauty of Lassen County’s Great Outdoors. The theme was also chosen because the fair plans to launch An Amazing Race Competition at this year’s fair.

The Competition will consist of teams of two, and there will be a cash prize of at least $1,000 to the winners. Half of their winnings will be given to a charity of their choice. The candidates will not be allowed any electronic devices, money and will be required to eat only fair food for the duration of the competition. The Amazing Race contestants will have to sleep at the fair and compete in a wide variety of Survivor like and Amazing Race competitions.

The idea was spun off of a Survivor competition held at the Amador county fair in 2009. “We are really hoping that people will come out and watch these people and have a good laugh,” said Fair Manager Jim Wolcott. “It is also a way for us to give back to the local charities, I think that is important,” he said. Lassen County Fair Board member Tim Bruce, is also chairing a committee to screen the contestants, develop an agenda for the contestants, and to try and collect more sponsorship money.

An entry form for the contest can be found at http://www.lassencountyfair.org/ or at the Lassen County Fair Office. Entry Forms are due by 5:00 pm, April 9th at the Lassen County Fair Office. “ Our hope is that this competition will be a fun light-hearted event that everyone will come down to the fair and watch,” said Wolcott.
